Psalmopoeus cambridgei – Trinidad Chevron
Psalmopoeus cambridgei, known as the Trinidad Chevron, is a medium to large arboreal tarantula originating from the island of Trinidad. This species is valued among keepers for its distinctive chevron patterns on the carapace and abdomen, fast growth, and attractive green‑olive coloration.
The Trinidad Chevron is a typical arboreal species that prefers vertical hides, cork bark, and denser vegetation. In a terrarium it requires higher humidity, good ventilation, and plenty of space for climbing. Due to its speed and defensive behaviour, it is more suitable for experienced keepers who have practice with fast and reactive species.
In the wild it inhabits humid tropical forests, where it hides in tree hollows and among roots. It feeds mainly on insects and smaller prey. With proper care, Psalmopoeus cambridgei can live for several years and becomes a striking centerpiece of any arboreal tarantula collection.
